I swore I'd never even think about dating someone
that worked for Best Buy - I ate those words in a big way!

This is Mellissa. She made me double-think. It is very early in our relationship, but here are the exciting details so far. For future reference, notice she is wearing a Michigan sweatshirt in the photo on the right. |

Ok, story time. Imagine if you will: I work at the Davenport Best Buy store as an Operations Senior. For those of you that are not familiar with the leadership structure at Best Buy, I will provide that information now. From low end to high end the pecking order is as follows: Part Time, Full Time, Senior, Supervisor, Manager. So, part-timers and full-timers are below me, leaving a Supervisor and a Manager that I answer to. Mellissa was a part-timer who took at full-time position when it became available. She many times told me I was her best friend at work. This doesn't mean we were good friends, it simply meant she felt comfortable talking to me about work-related questions she had. We worked often together and always had a good time. There was even a time when I offered to let her move in with me, jokingly. I wasn't aware of it at the time, but apparently she had a major crush on me throughout this time she worked at Best Buy. She was a good worker, called in sick a little more often than I would have liked, and there was only one thing she did that slightly got on my nerves - her Blue Wave pages. Again, I'll educate those of you that are not 'in the know.' A Blue Wave page is made over the intercom to ask for assistance at the checkout lanes at the front of the store. Mellissa's pages were loud and her tone of voice made you squint. I'm picking on her a little bit here, they probably weren't as bad as I make them seem. We never spent time together outside of work until She and a co-worker, Elle, suggested I take them out for a beer, since they had a good day. Between the two of them they sold 35 Magazine subscriptions. (Best Buy offers 8 risk-free issues Entertainment Weekly and/or Sports Illustrated.) We went to Old Chicago and I did pay for one beer each. Elle left after about 2 hours, leaving Mellissa and I to talk the rest of the evening. The next day, my eyes stumbled upon a company email with information regarding the transfer of a Mellissa to store 527 in South Salt Lake City. I was suprised, but not upset. I knew I'd miss her, but didn't think too much of it after that. She claims she didn't want to tell me, but I found out anyway. You'll find very little gets past me if you ever get to know me.
